Junior Analyst - Risk & Middle Office

Arnhem Global Services - Finance Apply before: 2027-01-30

We are Hoogwegt. We’re the world’s largest privately owned dairy ingredient provider. Founded in the Netherlands in 1965, Hoogwegt has grown to become the world’s largest independent supplier of dairy products and ingredients, active in over 130 countries. Thanks to our global network, 60+ years of experience, and a team of commercial, technical, and logistics experts, we add vision and value to our business. You will be part of the Risk & Compliance team located at our modern, collaborative office in Arnhem, working within an international network that spans across multiple continents.

At the intersection of commodity markets, quantitative data, and process building is where your career begins. As our Junior Analyst, you will play a vital supporting role in establishing and scaling our newly centralized risk and middle-office function, helping us build robust operational controls from the ground up across our global operations.

Why You?

You are a sharp, ambitious, and analytical talent with a pragmatic, no-nonsense mentality, eager to jump into a high-paced trading environment where you can truly make an impact.

  • Support daily operations by checking trade bookings in KYOS/JDE against broker confirmations, running daily completeness checks, and flagging or escalating any unpriced, unmatched, or unclear items to senior team members.
  • Help prepare and update daily/weekly position, P&L, and management reporting templates, while collecting necessary data for book-level analysis.
  • Help maintain VaR and Greeks reports, log backtest breaches for senior review, and upload daily prices and curves after checking for obvious missing, stale, or incorrect values.
  • Automate recurring controls, data uploads, and reports using Python, SQL, or VBA, replacing manual spreadsheet steps with documented, reviewable tools for senior sign-off.
  • Compare daily P&L and positions against broker statements, keep a clean log of open reconciliation items, and escalate mismatches rather than resolving them independently.
  • Respond to routine data requests from Trading, Finance, and Risk while keeping stakeholders updated on the status of open items and supporting senior staff on curve build-out tasks.

Requirements

  • Up to 3 years of relevant work experience (or a strong academic background with relevant internships) in commodity trading, finance, or a quantitative field.
  • A University Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Econometrics, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related analytical field.
  • Strong technical affinity with top-tier Excel and VBA skills, and hands-on programming experience in Python and SQL; R or SAS is a plus.
  • A structured, results-driven problem-solving mindset with the resilience to thrive in a dynamic, high-paced trading atmosphere.
  • A proactive, hands-on attitude—you are excited by the opportunity to help build and shape processes rather than stepping into a fully automated machine.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken; proficiency in Dutch is a strong plus.
  • You are based in (or within easy commuting distance of) Arnhem, Netherlands.

We Offer

  • An informal and open culture where you can be yourself.
  • The freedom to shape your work and contribute directly to setting up a core department.
  • Plenty of room for personal growth and development, with close mentorship from experienced risk professionals.
  • A warm welcome from enthusiastic colleagues who will help you find your feet.
  • Strong employment conditions, including attractive variable pay, a solid pension plan, generous leave, and collective insurance.
  • A sports programme with bootcamp, running, or yoga under professional guidance.
  • A modern office directly opposite Arnhem Central Station, easy to reach by public transport.

Our Commitment to You

At Hoogwegt, we believe that our strength lies in our differences. We are a global community that thrives on a diversity of perspectives, and we warmly welcome applications from people of all ages, genders, ethnicities, and backgrounds. We strive to create a workplace where everyone feels at home and has the freedom to shape their own path. Come as you are, we look forward to meeting you.
