Finance Internship
About Hoogwegt
We are Hoogwegt. We are the world’s largest privately owned supplier of dairy ingredients, operating in over 130 countries with an annual turnover of €4 billion. Our financial, commercial, and operational success at the heart of the global trade market relies on smart risk management, robust credit strategies, and strong liquid capital.
When you join Hoogwegt, you step into a high-caliber, international finance environment. You will become part of our dynamic Group Finance community, where your contribution directly bridges financial reliability, precise reporting, and commercial decision-making across all our operational units and service functions.
About the role
As a Finance Intern, you will join our Group Finance team in a versatile role positioned right at the intersection of Financial Control and Business Control. This internship is specifically designed for a motivated Bachelor’s or Master’s student (or recent graduate) who wants to discover how numbers drive a global trading organization, combining technical financial depth with commercial dynamism.
From day one, you will not just be a spectator—you will be an active team member with concrete responsibilities and real task ownership. Working closely with and guided by experienced controllers, you will learn not only how financial processes, consolidations, and reporting work, but also how to translate those numbers into actionable commercial insights. This offers a steep learning curve, strong encouragement for initiative, and a powerful springboard for your future career in global finance.
What you will do
- Assist in preparing periodic financial reports and variance analyses, helping unpack the commercial stories, market trends, and operational drivers behind the numbers.
- Gain hands-on exposure to consolidation processes, intercompany reconciliations, and data validation across international group entities.
- Support the gathering of input and preparation of figures for budgeting, forecasting, and medium-term planning cycles.
- Explore and brainstorm how AI tools and modern technologies can be leveraged to automate routines, enhance reporting accuracy, and optimize daily finance workflows.
- Partner with Senior Controllers to learn cost and margin analysis, building a foundational understanding of how Finance acts as a strategic business partner.
- Work alongside colleagues across the Group Finance community to build a well-rounded foundation in Dutch GAAP, financial management, and corporate finance concepts.
Who you are
- Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Controlling, Accounting, Business Economics, or a related field.
- Available for a full-time or practical internship for a minimum period of 4 to 6 months.
- Fluent in English with strong communication skills to interact effectively within our international teams (knowledge of Dutch is a plus).
- Highly analytical, precise, and genuinely curious about the commercial logic and stories behind financial data.
- Proactive, eager to learn, and organized, with the drive to take ownership of tasks and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with MS Office (especially Excel) and comfortable working with financial tools and data.
